MORENCI — When Morenci Kiwanians hand out free school supplies during the annual Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 12, they’ll be aided by the work of three sisters with a heart for service.
Ezri, Blake and Navy Hall operated a lemonade stand at their home on Salisbury Street on July 23. It’s a tradition going back to 2022, usually coinciding with Morenci’s citywide garage sale, though this year it was a week later.
“I really just wanted to start instilling giving to your community any chance you can,” the girls’ mother, Kristin Hall, explained. In 2022, they donated $515 to the Morenci Fire Department. In 2023, the lemonade stand raised $300 for the Kiwanis Club’s Wishing Tree project at Christmas. And in 2024, the girls raised more than $2,200 to support the accessible swing now in place at Morenci Elementary School.
Each year, the sisters have decided for themselves what project they want to support.
After missing a year in 2025, they chose to raise money for school supplies to be given away at the Back-to-School Bash, which will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Ezri will begin fourth grade and Blake will begin third grade this year at Morenci Elementary School, and Navy is starting preschool.
In addition to selling cool drinks to thirsty passersby, they accepted donations in cash and by Venmo. As of July 26, the total stood at just over $2,000.
Rosemary Dickerson, representing the Kiwanis Club, said the girls’ donation will purchase numerous school supplies to be given away at the Back-to-School Bash, touching the lives of countless children in the community.
“Navy, Blake, and Ezri are truly outstanding Morenci citizens, and we are incredibly proud of them,” she said.
